Very easy recipe of hearty red lentil turnip dhal.

  1. Heat oil in a large shallow pan over medium heat. Sauté onion and garlic until soft and translucent. Add curry powder and stir for a minute until fragrant.
  2. Now add diced turnip and chopped tomatoes. Let it cook for about 5 minutes.
  3. Then add lentils, water or vegetable stock and let it simmer partially covered for 10-15 minutes or until lentils are done.
  4. When lentils are soft add coconut milk, salt and Garam Masala. Stir well and cook for another 5 minutes to thicken.
  5. Serve over rice or quinoa or alongside fresh flatbread like Naan.
