Vegan tempeh bacon

This is going to be a short post about how to make vegan tempeh bacon, but trust me; it’s a game-changer!

The marinade I’m using here is a base for all kinds of vegan bacon: tempeh, tofu, eggplant, carrot, or even rice paper. It’s super versatile, so feel free to mix and match!

First things first, slice your tempeh into thin pieces. Just remember, don’t cut them too thin, or they’ll fall apart when cooking – nobody wants crumbled bacon!

Next, whisk all the marinade ingredients together in a small bowl. Here’s where you can get a little creative! Depending on your taste, you might want to add some smoked paprika for that smoky flavour, a dash of maple syrup for sweetness, or even a splash of liquid smoke if you’re feeling adventurous.

Now comes the fun part. Place those beautifully sliced tempeh pieces in an airtight container and cover them with your delicious marinade. Pop it in the fridge overnight – let it soak up all that goodness. Patience is key here, but trust me, it’s totally worth it!

The next day, when the aroma is calling your name, heat some oil in a pan over medium heat. Fry the tempeh for a few minutes on each side until it’s golden brown and crisp. Oh, the sizzle! You’ll want to transfer them to a plate lined with a paper towel to absorb any extra oil, but let’s be real – this is the hardest part: waiting to eat them!

And here’s a little tip: it’s best to use the tempeh bacon right away because, honestly, it’s nearly impossible to resist the temptation to munch on a whole bunch at a time. Serve it up on a vegan BLT sandwich, toss it in a salad, or just snack on it straight from the plate – whatever you do, just enjoy every crispy bite!

So gather your ingredients, put on some fun music, and get ready to whip up a batch of the tastiest vegan tempeh bacon that will have you going back for seconds (and thirds!). Happy cooking! 🌱🥓
